Overview:

The “Wood Work Technician” trade trains candidates in professional skills, knowledge, and employability skills. The course includes project work, extracurricular activities, and on-the-job training.

Professional Skills:

  • Learn elementary first aid, firefighting, and housekeeping.
  • Identify timber/wood and use measuring, marking, and testing tools.
  • Perform ripping, cross-cutting, and curve cutting using saws and portable power machines.
  • Achieve surface finish with planning and shaving tools.
  • Create various joints for strength and appearance.
  • Make small wooden jobs using timber, FRP, MDF, or foam.
  • Apply surface finishing techniques (painting, polishing, varnishing).
  • Operate band saw, circular saw, planning, grinding, tenon, mortise, and sanding machines.
  • Prepare patterns, core boxes, and core prints for molding.
  • Assemble and fix roof trusses, doors, windows, floors, and partition walls.
  • Repair wooden jobs and complete a two-week project.
