Duration: Two Years
Overview:
The “Fitter” trade trains candidates over two years in professional skills, knowledge, and employability skills, with project work and extracurricular activities.
Professional Skills:
First Year:
- Perform basic fitting (sawing, filing, marking, chipping, drilling) with ±0.25 mm accuracy.
- Practice allied trades (sheet metal, welding).
- Perform drilling, reaming, grinding, tapping, and fitting with ±0.04 mm accuracy.
- Execute turning operations (step, grooving, threading) on lathes.
- Conduct simple repair, overhauling, and lubrication of machines.
Second Year:
- Perform complex assembling, fitting, lapping, and gauge-making with ±0.02 mm accuracy.
- Work on power tools, pipe joints, and valve overhauling.
- Create drill jigs, templates, and gauges.
- Maintain and repair machinery (lathe, drill, grinding).
- Inspect and test machine tools for accuracy.
- Complete two group projects.
