Duration: Two Years
Overview:
The “Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician” trade trains candidates in professional skills, knowledge, and employability skills over two years, with project work and on-the-job training.
Professional Skills:
First Year:
- Follow safety protocols and use refrigeration tools and equipment.
- Perform fitting, sheet metal work, and electrical measurements.
- Repair and troubleshoot refrigerators (direct cool, frost-free, inverter).
- Operate gas welding machines for brazing.
- Maintain compressors, condensers, evaporators, and refrigerant controls.
- Recover, recharge, and retrofit refrigerants.
- Install and troubleshoot window and split ACs.
Second Year:
- Overhaul commercial compressors and descale condensers and cooling towers.
- Install and service water coolers, deep freezers, ice cube machines, and cold storage.
- Study HVAC, duct designing, and air filter maintenance.
- Troubleshoot package ACs, VRF/VRV systems, and central AC plants.
- Service mobile ACs (bus, train).
Job Opportunities:
- Start your own fridge/AC repair center.
