Duration: Two Years

Overview:

The “Fitter” trade trains candidates over two years in professional skills, knowledge, and employability skills, with project work and extracurricular activities.

Professional Skills:
First Year:

  • Perform basic fitting (sawing, filing, marking, chipping, drilling) with ±0.25 mm accuracy.
  • Practice allied trades (sheet metal, welding).
  • Perform drilling, reaming, grinding, tapping, and fitting with ±0.04 mm accuracy.
  • Execute turning operations (step, grooving, threading) on lathes.
  • Conduct simple repair, overhauling, and lubrication of machines.

Second Year:

  • Perform complex assembling, fitting, lapping, and gauge-making with ±0.02 mm accuracy.
  • Work on power tools, pipe joints, and valve overhauling.
  • Create drill jigs, templates, and gauges.
  • Maintain and repair machinery (lathe, drill, grinding).
  • Inspect and test machine tools for accuracy.
  • Complete two group projects.

Job Opportunities:
